Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computerized system we use at Harvard Elementary to promote independent reading practice.  AR provides quick assessments of whether students have read and understood books they have selected.  Point values are given for each quiz taken.  (Tests can only be taken at school.) Students have AR goals based on their reading level test results and the amount of minutes they should be reading independently per day.  Students that meet 100% of their point goal and accuracy goal (avg. 80% or higher correct) by the end of the trimester, will be invited to a special celebration with Mr. Elery!

At Harvard, we want to help students get lots of opportunities to have access to books!  Students check out from the school library every week and can also exchange books in the morning before school starts from 8:40-9a.m.

This year we have also invited the Pierce County Library to share their BEES program with us.
